Ruling 112 — Purification (Ṭahārah)

Beer (fuqqāʿ), which is made from barley and causes a low level of intoxication, is unlawful to consume; and based on obligatory precaution, it is impure. However, barley water derived from barley for medicinal purposes and does not cause any intoxication whatsoever is pure and lawful to consume.
